Join us for our 'Return to Our New Garden Roots' celebration in the Jamestown Friends Meetinghouse, Jamestown, NC. Many Stanley families migrated to this area (Guilford County, NC) to be part of New Garden Monthly Meeting of Friends (Quakers) in the mid-1700s. In fact, all families from all three branches of our family line moved to this area. They helped build the New Garden Meeting House in 1792. Stanleys were instrumental in building New Garden Friends Boarding School in about 1836-7. This school eventually transitioned into Guilford College. Some Stanley families still live in this area, but many migrated out to the NW territory in the first half of the nineteenth century.
REGISTRATION: Registration is due by June 8th by mail or email if you wish to share a meal with us. Check-in will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 22 at the Jamestown Friends Meetinghouse. and will last until 5:30 p.m. Check-in will also occur on Saturday, June 23 from 9:00 a.m. untill 12 p.m. noon at the same location.
You will be able to visit many historical sites such as the Greensboro History Museum, Guilford College, Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum at the Historic Palmer Memorial Institute and the February One Monument. The Reunion speakers will be announced here shortly.
During the reunion, you will find out more of your family history from Stanley family genealogy experts (and non-experts). Learn how to research your own line, bring your questions, and please bring your pictures to share. Expect to have a good time visiting with your 'cousins' whom you might not have seen for a year or more. Highlights of the weekend will include speakers, tours of places of interest and as usual good local entertainment.
Make sure to bring your wallets since you need a Stanley watch, hat, t-shirt and more Stanley history books. Note that we are having a HUGE Stanley book sale at the reunion!!! Click here for more information on that. See you there!
